Cricket is often a sport that gets criticised for being extremely slow and boring, however, T20 Finals Day is a whole different ball game. In 2003 the ECB introduced T20 cricket; a much shorter, fast paced game of cricket. The T20 county league is contested throughout the summer, culminating in a grand finals day where you get to watch three games of T20 cricket; the two semi finals, then the final. For the cricket fan in your life this is the perfect gift! So, for TIG’s dad’s 60th birthday last year, this idea had to be done, and of course being a special occasion, hospitality was the only way to go…
What’s the idea: Tickets to the T20 Blast Finals Day
Who for: Anyone who likes cricket! Even if you don’t, it’s a real fun day out for all the family…
Cost: We went for The Experience Club hospitality which is £175 +VAT each
Where can I find out more:
Tickets: www.eticketing.co.uk/edgbaston/details/event.aspx?itemref=4105
Hospitality: www.edgbaston.com/t20-finals-day-2015
Where can I stay: As it was a special occasion I booked us into the most luxurious accommodation in Birmingham. We stayed at The Rotunda in a penthouse suite at the Staying Cool apartments for £660 for 2 nights. If you want the WOW factor this is the place to go, we could even see the cricket ground in the distance.
TIGs review
TIG’s dad’s birthday treat was four tickets to the T20 blast finals day at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. We got there in good time as there is so much to do around the ground. We even managed to go on this game to see how fast we could bowl – TIG’s dad got a pretty impressive 47.9mph.
We also got our photo taken with the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy which was a great experience.
As it was a very special occasion I purchased hospitality tickets for The Experience Club. This included a top price category 1 ticket, complimentary bar, two course buffet lunch and cricketer’s afternoon tea. This hospitality experience was just fantastic – when we arrived we got told we had been upgraded to even better seats, which was a fabulous start to the day. The wide variety of food choices were displayed to perfection and tasted amazing, and some people were certainly ‘bowled over’ with the offer of unlimited free drinks! We even saw a few famous faces in the hospitality area which made the day extra special.
Despite our county team not making the final of the T20 blast competition the cricket was thrilling to watch, the matches were exciting and exhilarating and we had 12 hours of action packed hospitality and cricket. This was just an incredible experience, the atmosphere was electric and we had four of the best seats in the ground.
The day ended with the trophy presentation to the winners and a few fireworks to really finish the night on a high. This was a truly fantastic occasion and I would love to go back and experience it all again next year. A fabulous day of cricket…and wonderful hospitality.
